Description

I’m really pleased to finally share my new Business, Enterprise & Future Skills resource pack for S1–S2 students.

The pack contains 32 stand-alone lessons covering a wide range of business, enterprise, financial and future skills. You can teach the course from beginning to end or simply choose individual lessons to complement your existing BGE programme.

I’ve designed the pack with real classrooms in mind. I know lesson times vary between schools, so the resources are flexible enough to work across approximately 40–55 minute periods. I’m also very aware that when cover is required, it’s often our younger year groups that are passed to another teacher. Each lesson has therefore been structured so that it can be delivered by a Business Education teacher, used for cover, or worked through by students with clear instructions and guidance.

Each lesson includes:

  • a ready-to-teach PowerPoint
  • a quick starter and accessible theory
  • 3–5 main activities
  • 1–3 extension activities
  • worksheets that can be printed or completed digitally
  • suggested solutions
  • a final reflection
  • Learning Intentions and Success Criteria
  • Know,  Do & Understand statements

A comprehensive course overview spreadsheet is also included, showing the lesson sequence, learning focus, curriculum outcomes, Big Ideas and key themes across the course.

Looking ahead to CIC Technologies

Like many Business Education teachers, I’m conscious that we are planning during a period of curriculum change without yet having all the answers.

I’ve tried to make this pack as flexible and future-ready as possible, based on the information currently available about the emerging CIC Technologies curriculum, without making assumptions about what has not yet been confirmed.

This is why I have deliberately included both Learning Intentions and Success Criteria and Know,  Know, Do & Understand statements within the lessons. My aim has been to cover the bases and build in flexibility so that the resources are useful now and can adapt as further guidance becomes available.

Most importantly, I wanted to create a course that gets students thinking, making decisions, solving problems and justifying their choices, while introducing them to business and the skills they will need for the future.
